Tablets are the new frontier in personal computing technology and that's no secret. Like in the old days youngsters or geeks dream to look for getting a pc/mac, nowadays what these people look for is Tablet. The PC wars of the past will be displaced by battles between these new handheld computers.
The first one to come up was Amazon Kindle but it was just meant for reading ebooks then came the Apple Ipad that took the whole commercial market with a storm, Apple Ipad's ability to not just be able to read any ebook but to be able to listen to music, browse the web chat, use Maps for navigation and recently they added Siri(a voice response app to speak and tell the ab do something for you instead of you doing the touch). Apple uses its own operating system iOS(the latest one today is iOS 6.0)
Same way many other companies like Sony, Motorola, Dell, Samsung, Micromax jumped in with Android Operating systems. and them being cheaper then Apple also had lots to offer. The cheapest tablet in India on Android would cost between INR 2000 to INR 5000.

Now, I have no clue if Apple is in fact making a 7-inch version of the iPad. Given Steve Jobs' past aversion to a tablet of this nature, it would be quite fascinating if Apple did do something in this size. However, Steve Jobs did things that he had previously said he would not do, so you can't count it out. Imagine if Apple decides to rollout something around 7.8 inches; it would be larger than a Amazon Kindle.
HTC had a big success with their version of tablet HTC Flyer. The tablet has 1GB RAM and 32GB ROM,HTC Flyer along with a 5-megapixel camera, HTC Flyer a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera,HSPA+ support,Bluetooth,and Wi-Fi.
whats unique to it is it comes with a pen(Stylus). The Flyer will feature HTC’s Scribe and digital ink technology to give you the experience of using a pen to take notes,draw pictures.
To me tablets today coming up in the market are much like a polygamy i.e marriage of ebook reader (like Kindle), Music Player(like ipod or Zune), a celphone and a Wacom Cintiq(the one used by graphic artist for drawing with a digital pen. i.e. Stylus).

Sony has got its own range of Android tablets. The have got some nice features too. Beside just features like maps, internet browsing, photo editing or listening to music. Microsoft has detailed two new own-built tablets at an event in Los Angeles - the Microsoft Surface Tablet and the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet with the later being a fully fledged Intel-powered PC that will run Windows 8 and all the apps that come with it.
The Microsoft Surface Pro tablet will weigh 903 grams, be 13.5mm thick and come with a 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD display. It will also sport much beefier tech specs over the consumer model, including being powered by an Intel Core i5 (Ivy Bridge) processor.
